P2

P2 was puma # 2 that was captured in the Santa Monica Mountains.  She was also captured south of the 101-freeway.  She mated with P1 at least once, and had at least one litter that we know of with him.  The kittens born of the known litter were numbered P5-P8.  Sadly, P1 later killed P2 when the kittens were about 1-year old.  This type of aggression between mountain lions is not uncommon in our region, and happens to be the number one source of mortality for mountain lions in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
