If you would like to organize a local education event focused on local bobcat, mountain lion, or coyote biology and research or other subject matter presented on this website, get in contact with our SAMO Carnivore Fund manager, Julie Newsome (julienewsome1@gmail.com). We are available for community events or to present to school classes.

MOUNTAIN LION PROJECT FUNDRAISER APRIL 2012
March 20, 2012- East Los Angeles Rotary Club Meeting
Laurel Serieys will present data gathered from her work on bobcats in Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area at the East LA Rotary Club Members meeting.
February 20, 2012- Urban Mountain Lions!
Jeff Sikich (National Park Service Wildlife Biologist) will present what we're learning about our local mountain lions. Research is ongoing since 2002, and during this time, we have radiocollared 21 mountain lions in the Santa Monicas, Simi Valley, and Santa Susanas.
Jeff will discuss what we've learned about the movement patterns, home ranges, diet, reproduction, and the ability of these elusive large wild cats to adapt and persist in an increasingly urban landscape. If you are curious about these charasmatic wild cats, come to Jeff's talk. He's an excellent presenter and has been the principal biologist responsible for most of the work done on our local mountain lions.
